Join us at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C. for SHAPE In Motion: Art Benefit, a landmark cultural showcase celebrating African art, contemporary streetwear fashion, and the global skate culture!

Organized by the SHAPE Skate Foundation (a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit), this evening brings together diplomats, artists, entrepreneurs, and sports leaders in support of youth development across Africa.
Silent auction proceeds directly support our youth mentorship and exposure program, sending young African skateboarders from across the continent tto the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal.

Event Highlights
Keynote Speaker: Ambassador Rama Yade (Senior Director, Atlantic Council Africa Center; Former French Minister of Sports & Ambassador to UNESCO) speaking ont the importance of sports diplomacy, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange across Africa in the lead-up to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

Curated Art & Fashion Market: Browse and purchase original works from 20+ artists well known across the DMV and world.

Silent Art Auction: Bid on exclusive fine art pieces—including original works shipped directly from Senegal and a donated original piece by renowned artist Victor Ekpuk—to directly fund the Dakar 2026 Youth Program

African Fashion Show: A high-energy, 5–10 minute guerrilla-style runway showcase featuring Howard University students wearing a modern-day blend of contemporary streetwear fits crafted from West African fabrics.

Special Guests & Live Entertainment: Featuring visiting Zambian Pro Skateboarder Mukuka Chande, live DJ sets, light food and refreshments, and high-level networking with DMV community leaders and creative entrepreneurs.

Important Venue & Security Information
Security Check-In: Please allow extra time for security check-in upon arrival.

ID & Ticket Requirement: You will need a valid photo ID and your Eventbrite ticket (printed or ready on your phone). For security purposes, the name on the ticket must match the name on your photo ID. If you need to enter or update the names of your plus-ones, you can edit your ticket info directly on Eventbrite via a web browser prior to the event.

Prohibited Items: For security reasons, Embassy staff and security services cannot allow weapons, large bags, umbrellas, backpacks, or bike helmets to be brought onto Embassy grounds. The security team reserves the right to confiscate any items deemed inappropriate.

Parking & Transportation: There is no on-site parking at the Embassy. Limited street parking is available along Reservoir Road. We strongly encourage guests to use ride-sharing services, taxis, or public transportation.

Ticket Information:
The ticket includes full access to the art market, fashion show, keynote presentation, silent auction, and a complimentary drink ticket.
