TOGETHER, WE SHAPE WHAT'S POSSIBLE

building brighter futures

SHAPE stands for Skateboarding for Hope, Action, Progress, and Empowerment. We empower youth and young adults in the African diaspora and the U.S. by using skateboarding and the creative arts to build resilient communities, celebrate African culture, and develop the grit and perseverance needed to overcome adversity. We believe every voice deserves to be heard and every future can be bright.

ACCESS

We champion safe, inclusive, accessible skateparks across the African diaspora. By using our connections within the core skate industry, we provide vital skate equipment and help develop local skate shops. Our goal is to expand the market for skateboarding in Africa, creating new opportunities and fostering a sustainable industry that empowers local communities.

& SOCIAL IMPACT

prosperity

Beyond the skatepark, our work creates a pathway to economic empowerment. We provide critical support for talented African athletes to compete in Olympic qualifiers, leveling the playing field and helping them achieve their dreams. By hosting international events, we also promote skate tourism, bringing a new source of revenue to local communities and showcasing the vibrant skate scene across the continent.

driven by purpose

At SHAPE, we are a part of a global movement. We believe every trick, every push, and every fall builds confidence and resilience.

We empower young people to discover their potential by using skateboarding as a tool to uplift communities across the African diaspora, including through our work with HBCU skate clubs.

"Skateboarding is really growing in unlikely places...It's incredible to see these kids experiencing something new – they are embracing skateboarding and it's having such a positive effect."

Our Journey & Purpose

A movement born from a personal journey of resilience amidst tragedy. SHAPE was launched in 2024 as I cared for both of my sick parents. After they unfortunately passed away two days apart in January 2025, I found a new purpose in their legacy. The resilience I learned from skateboarding and my faith helped me through the hardest year of my life. My mission now is to share those same lessons with youth across the African diaspora, especially in communities where they are facing their own unique battles.
