SHAPE “DC to Naija” Video Premiere

April 4, 2026 at 6:00:00 PM

On Saturday, April 4th, SHAPE Skate Foundation teamed up with Fairfax Surf Shop to host a joint video premiere for the closing celebration of the elusive warehouse DIY skatepark that temporarily operated in Alexandria, Virginia.

By Maxwell Brothers

The warehouse, which was once an auto body shop, temporarily functioned as a skatepark between the final months of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, featured a variety of skateable obstacles, including quarterpipes, manual pads, ledges and flatbars. However, its existence was short-lived as the property was sold to be converted into a data center.

We started the day out with an open skate session, which brought together many skaters from the DMV skate scene, including most of Fairfax Surf Shop’s skate team and wrapped it up with a group game of skate. Following the game of skate, we premiered SHAPE’s “DC to Naija” tour video, shot and edited by Nnamdi Ihekwoaba. After our video played, Fairfax Surf Shop premiered their long awaited team skate video, “Playa Vibes”, shot and edited by Jake Sanders.

The “DC to Naija” video, which features footage from our December multi-state Nigeria tour will be released online soon alongside an upcoming article in the coveted east coast skateboarding magazine, Skate Jawn.
