Park Shredders Skate Jam at Walker Mill Skatepark

On August 22nd, SHAPE Skate Foundation teamed up with Prince George’s County Parks & Recreation to host a youth centered skate jam at Walker Mill Skatepark. The event featured skate lessons & demos from local pros, as well as a Youth Best Trick Contest, which gave the local skaters a chance to shine.

We were almost rained out in the morning, but thankfully the skies cleared up and the skatepark dried up as we decided to wait out the storm.

We’d like to give a huge thanks to Prince George’s County Parks & Recreation for making this event possible, as well as for providing free skateboarding equipment (boards, helmets and pads) to the youth, so that everybody who wanted to had a chance to learn how to skate.

Apart from the lessons, contest, and skate jam, we were also joined by other members of the community who offered free lunches, games, and face painting, as well as a DJ who kept the vibes high!
